Saneline: Saneline is a national out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional assist, guidance and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. We are normally open every day of the year from 4pm to 10pm on    

SHOUT: SHOUT is a free, confidential, anonymous write 24/7 support service. You can text from from wherever you are in the UK.  

Stay Alive App: The Stay Alive App is a pocket prevention resource packed full of useful information and tools to help you stay harmless in a crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.

Crisis Care & Support Hotlines

Call or go to the nearest emergency room (options in Davis) if you are an immediate danger to yourself or others, or if you are in need of immediate medical attention.

UC Davis Crisis Care

There are several crisis support options present for UC Davis students. 

  • Phone: Call Counseling Services if you are in crisis
    • After hours support is available by calling the same line and tracking the prompts, and you will be connected with a trained counselor. 
  • Text: Reach the crisis text line by texting Relate to
    • Crisis Write Line is a free, immediate and confidential texting service for UC Davis students in crisis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Communicate RELATE to from anywhere in the U.S. to text with a trained volunteer crisis counselor. This service is also ready in Spanish.
  • In person: You can request a crisis appointment by calling Counseling Services at and asking for a crisis appointment.
    • Or you can walk in to the Acute Care Clinic during business hours at the Student Health and Wellness Center and request for a crisis appointment.

On the LGBT National Hotline, we provide a confidential safe space where callers of any age can speak about sexual orientation or gender identity/expression issues. This includes coming out issues, relationship concerns, bullying, workplace issues, HIV/AIDS anxiety, safer sex information, suicide, and much more.

Sometimes you just need to be heard. We're here. You deserve respect, support, assurance, and acceptance.

We don't give advice, and we never tell you what you should do. Ultimately, those choices are yours to make, but we are here to assist you on your journey.

  • Our highly trained & devoted LGBTQIA+ volunteers are here to provide free & confidential services.

  • We offer help, information, and local resources throughout the United States and beyond.

  • We don't announce calls to outside organizations.
