Are any of the Heartstopper cast LGBTQ in concrete life? Here's what we know about Joe Locke, Kit Connor and more

The highly anticipated third season of Heartstopper is place to debut soon. After the show's breakout accomplishment on Netflix in April , Heartstopper quickly became a fan favorite, obeying the romance between Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, alongside their friends navigating their own LGBTQ+ journeys.

The show was created and written by Oseman, who also penned other works expanding the existence, such as Solitaire, Nick and Charlie, and Radio Silence.

Heartstopper explores Charlie's struggles after being outed as gay and Nick's realization of his bisexuality. There has been curiosity around the real-life sexualities of the cast, who engage a range of Diverse characters.

Are any of the Heartstopper cast LGBTQ in real life?

Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, grew up on the Isle of Man and is openly gay. He recently connected the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has expressed hopes of playing a lgbtq+ Disney prince or superhero. Kit Connor, who plays Nick, came out as bisexual on social media in October after facing online harassment and accusations of "queerbaiting". Connor

Google may be a powerful tool, but it was never going to provide Nick Nelson an easy answer to the question “Am I Gay?” It brings up the usual genre of article you’d find: Buzzfeed-like articles that list off numerous “signs” that you’re lgbtq+, reference points for your personal journey. But those journeys are always separate, and for Nick Nelson his queer awakening is in many ways the first time he’s ever considered any of this.

He may not have lived an entirely sheltered being, but Charlie Spring is the first and only gay person Nick knows, and there’s no perception that school or pop culture has exposed him to the larger Homosexual community in any meaningful way. And so it’s no surprise that his web searches aren’t just about figuring out he’s apparently 62% gay. It’s also about conversion therapy, and homophobia, and marriage equality, and a collapse course in gay sociocultural history that does tiny to make him sense secure about what he’s finding out about himself.

In the book, Nick does similar Google searches, and he is clearly conflicted about the results, murmuring “help me” from under the covers after a long night of losing himself into endless onl

It’s a canon event for sapphics: queer girl falls in love with her straight best friend but is left broken-hearted by the yearning, rejection and confusing closeness of female friendship. “An inch away from more than just friends.” Chappell Roan’s lyric in “Naked in Manhattan” summarises it with stunning accuracy.

(Warning: spoilers for Heartstopper season three follow).

However, tracking one specific scene in the season two finale of the hit Netflix show, which is based on Alice Osman’s graphic novels, fans were convinced that hyper femme, self-proclaimed LGBTQ+ ally Imogen is actually less than per cent linear, and is, perhaps, undergoing a sapphic awakening after a existence time of heterosexuality.

They were sent into a frenzy when Imogen gave a loving, longing glance at Sahar at the school prom, pointing out that the un-heterosexual moment was tinged by lesbian-flag-coloured lighting and could be a hint at a potential season three plot focusing on Imogen’s sexuality.

“I believed Imogen was a lesbian [from] season one,” one fan wrote on social media at the time. “Then there’s Sahar. We absorb that they used to be friends, but then Imog

On 2 August, the hotly anticipated second season of the heartwarming and queer AF show, Heartstopper, was released on Netflix. It was full of LGBTQIA voice and queer and gender non-conforming joy and love. We got to see more from Nick and Charlie&#;s group of besties, one of these being Imogen (Rhea Norwood) of &#;I&#;m an ally&#; fame.

Fans have been reacting to Imogen&#;s arc across both seasons, especially a specific scene in the second instalment where she is caught gazing at her bisexual childhood bestie, Sahar, who is rocking out on stage. The connection is palpable and it appears that a sapphic awakening is definitely on the horizon.

The Heartstopper fandom is convinced that Imogen is either fluid or a lesbian and have picked apart her arc across the show&#;s episodes and how compulsory cis(gender)-het(erosexuality) has shown up for her. With a third season confirmed, it will be interesting how the show treats Imogen&#;s character. I for one feel very seen by her journey so far, and I know that I am not alone.
