Disney rolls out rainbow Mickey Mouse ears for LGBTQ Pride Month, but Twitterati need more
Ahead of the Pride Month, which is celebrated in June, the Disney parks in the US are selling rainbow Mickey Mouse ears in support of the LGBTQIA community. The organization, which has increased its representation of the society in televisions and films over the years, deposit out the rainbow-coloured Mickey Mouse ears for sale at its US theme park, according to a Huffington Post report.
The ears have also been spotted at California’s Disneyland and the Walt Disney Society Resort in Orlando, Florida. A Disney spokesperson told the media company, “We propose a wide range of merchandise items that appeal to guests of diverse backgrounds.”
While Disney has always enjoyed a large LGBTQIA fan following, the company has officially never acknowledged the annual pride parade enjoy celebration — Gay Date — which draws thousands of queer visitors to the US. Disney Debuts Rainbow Mickey Mouse Ears in Time For Gay Pride Month
Disneyland has given us yet another excuse to visit their parks, and this day it's not just for their churros.
The amusement park recently began to trade rainbow-colored Micky Mouse ears in stores at both Walt Disney World in Florida and in the original Disneyland park in California, just weeks reserved of Gay Pride Month, which occurs in June.
According to People, the colorful, striped ears with a red cap, which are officially named, "Rainbow Love," are an "in-park exclusive" and currently retail for $18 at the Emporium, Fantasy Faire and the Chapeau Hat Shoppe in the Walt Disney Society Park in Orlando.
The sale of these LGBTQ-themed ears is one of Disneyland's many items of merchandise that can be worn when visiting the parks, and is especially matchless for those unofficial "Gay Days," which draw thousands of visitors annually for a Pride-themed celebration.
Other recent releases from the amusement park include their rose gold Minnie Mouse ears and a yummy Dole Whip Donut, sold for a limited day at the OG Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
