COLUMBIA — The capital city has a storied queer history, from protests and art to safe spaces and a diverse array of LGBT+ communities.
Celebrate Pride Month in Columbia all month long with events, happenings or by frequenting homosexual nightlife like PT's 1109, The Capital Club or The Hoot in Rosewood. Other queer-owned businesses in town include Queer Haven Books, Strange Times Vintage and Binge Ink.
Here are some event highlights to check out during Movement, which runs the entire month of June:
LGBTQ+ Ascend Night
When: June 10 at 6 p.m.
Where: Capital Climbing Cayce, 901 State St., Cayce
What: Pride Rock is a monthly climbing meet-up hosted in Cayce aimed at bringing LGBT+ individuals and allies together for indoor rock climbing. The second Tuesday of each month, the group gets together to scramble up the walls. All exposure levels are welcome.

Make the most out of your pride weekend 2024
It’s right there in the name, SC Famously Heated Pride Festival is so hot they have to wait for the cooler months to host it. That’s why the 34th annual pride festival is parading into Columbia all week-long Oct. 13-20, 2024. It’s time to giddy up to the Pink Pony Club to rejoice individuality and inclusion in the #RealColumbiaSC – this year’s theme: YEEHAW Y’ALL!
It’s a complete week of positivity, partying, and of course, event , leading us up to the grand events happening Oct. 19-20, but if you can’t swing into town for these, we’ll plan to see you out and about on Main Street on Friday and Saturday. While June is national Pride month in the US, in Columbia we like to keep the celebrations going throughout the year.
