Am I Gay?

Did you recognize that as of February 2022, Gallup found that 7.1 percent of US adults openly identity as LGBTQ+? (That's lesbian, male lover, bisexual, trans, queer, and other non-straight identities.) That’s a pretty staggering statistic, given that just 10 years earlier, only 3.5 percent of respondents identified themselves as LGBT.

Therefore, more than 20 million adults self-identified as LGBTQ+ in the US as of 2022. That doesn’t even include people who aren’t sure or publicly out about how their identities! The true number of LGBTQ+ American adults today could be millions more.

If you’re unsure about your sexual orientation, let us be the ones to tell you that you certainly aren’t alone. There’s a whole, wide earth of people out there who can relate to you, intimately. Most gay people have had to come to some place of understanding about our own sexual orientations. It isn’t always linear or so clear a process. For many of us, queer coming-of-age includes looking in the mirror at some point in our lives and wondering, “Am I gay?”
