It's quite hard to call one pub a 'gay scene'
Once upon a time the LGBTQ+ scene in Swansea was thriving.
There was Champers, OMG, Hush, H2O and the King's Arms - to name but a few of the venues popularly frequented by members of the community.
Today the scene has quite literally sobered up, with just one small pub, the King's Arms, located in the city's High Street.

For most people, having access to decent Homosexual space is about far more than having pleasurable and clubbing: it's about having a visible society to relate to and belong to. While in many other cities in the UK the Homosexual community has a definite cultural visibility, in Swansea, there is very brief to see.

Trans Help / Social Meet Up (TSMU)
The group is for anyone who identifies with the many identities that can fall under gender non-conforming and also allies, friends and families. This is a joint venture with Unique Transgender Network, Gender nonconforming Awareness Wales, The Beaumont society and The Snowdrops Self-Help Support group (and supported by Stonewall Cymru).
TSMU offers a monthly see up as well as a closed Facebook group.

Rainbow Newp I actually came out whilst at University.
I grew up during Section 28, which essentially meant that schools weren’t allowed to tutor kids that homosexuality exists and that it is ok. This resulted in a delay to me identifying my sexual orientation and I ended up dating a couple of guys in college but it never felt spontaneous. Starting Swansea University was an opportunity to really get to know myself away from everything and everyone I knew. That’s when I realised there was a good reason why my college boyfriends didn’t feel right, it was because I was a lesbian.
The beauty of going away for university is that I was able to come to terms with this in my own time before having to come out to my family. I was able to enter out at uni first and benefit from all the support I received from my friends (3 of whom I create out were bisexual when I came out), as well as the help I found in the University LGBTQ+ network.
One thing that I have learned over the years is the importance of organism around people who comprehend you, at least some of the time. When I was at uni I had the pleasure of having lots of friends who were from both the LGBTQ+ collective as well as the straight community. My

HOW IT WORKS
